Our new app, Project Paperclip is now in the App Store! Made in collaboration with Portuguese photographer and designer, Nuno Serrão, the app provides an augmented sound layer to his recent photo exhibition. Gallery guests use the app to scan a QR code next to the photos to unlock soundscapes, written specifically for each photo by Alexandre Gonçalves (alexnoise) and Nuno himself. Each soundscape is inspired by the photo in question, and they are also influenced by stimuli such as time of day, GPS and sounds from the listeners environment.

Our job was to program the iOS app, as well as the augmented sound for each soundscape, which was no mean feat, but a highly enjoyable one nonetheless. Both the app, and the exhibition, have had some great reviews as of yet, and we continue to update it as Nuno takes the exhibition to new places.

The physical exhibition will be taken to various cities of the world (it is currently at Centro das Artes, Madeira), and will hopefully be available in a gallery near you soon. For fellow Londoners, it will be part of Alpha-ville festival in September, so be sure not to miss it. In the meantime, anyone can access a preview of the exhibition online.
