We are very excited to announce that Reactify will be helping a team put together by Martin Roth of Section6 and @kasima to build a interactive sound installation for this year’s Burning Man festival. For those who don’t know, Burning Man is an annual arts festival held in the the Nevada desert, and is widely known for the incredible array of installations on display, often in the form of ‘art cars’ – moving installations that cruise their way around the festival site for the duration of the event.

We will be posting up more details about the installation and the people behind it as and when we can but, for now, I can tell you that it’s going to be related to generative and reactive dubstep music, so we will be looking to collaborate with some great artists in the genre.

We would also like to prototype this project for a new (to us) ‘open’ development process, where we regularly post up development diary posts, including source code and audio samples, to our website. This is inspired by the current Google DevArt competition that we are taking part in. Ragnar and I have both benefited so hugely from the vast amounts of free information on the internet during our careers as programmers, so we would love to give back to the community in this way.

I’ve also started a project that will allow us to embed this open development process right here on our blog.

Finally, if you’re Burning Man this year, make sure to get in touch so we can share a cold one on the Playa.

Till soon!
